SAP VC - Material Variant & Planning Variant

Dear Team,

I am working on SAP VC scenario. In material master of MRP view, we have two options as below.

1. Configure Variant ---> This I understand as "Material Variant" concept (This specifies the material is the variant of the "Configurable Material". This makes it possible to manufacture the frequently required variant / model of the configurable product & place them in stock to quickly cater the customer demand)

2. Configure Planning Variant ----> In what kind of business scenarios this will be useful? How this "Planning Variant" option will be different from above option "Configure Variant"
